First post, full of hope!

When I was 8, or possibly 5, but in any event still young enough to think that twenty-year-olds were old, I imagined that my life would be all figured out, in a good way, personally and professionally, by the time I was 22. Probably no one’s life is ever all figured out, in a good way, at any age. Maybe 30 years ago (and in some circles, even today) this might have been true. After all, my mom was married at 22, and in pursuit of her chosen career. I am now mere months away from turning 30, with neither career nor personal life at all figured out. Perhaps the Internet will help where so far prayer and lots of conversations have yielded no revelations. What does one say when beginning a blog? I’d thought that perhaps I should lay out a roadmap of what I do and don’t intend to discuss here, but I’m not sure I intend to be that structured. I think this will be a place where I’ll post my writing (and I promise to do that very soon), and I can say that this blog won’t reflect the life of a serious foodie, hipster, young married type, as I am none of those things, and that has already been done with aplomb on other sites. But I will do my best to be honest and un-self-conscious, which is much harder than it sounds.
